Biofuelwatch

By: Rowan Wolf

I was recently contacted by the owner - Almuth Ernsting - of the biofuelwatch.org. I had been unfamiliar with that site and so went to check it out. The site is aimed at the EU audience, but also has a very nice set of resources on biofuel information, global warming, and other related issues. It also offers political action opportunities. There is a very informative background document Biofuels: Renewable Energy or Environmental Disaster in the Making? written by Ernsting that is well worth the time to read. I appreciate the cautions of the rush to biofuels that are so clearly documented in the article and site. Ernsting shares my concern that in focusing on replacing hydrocarbons, that we are minimizing the environmental impacts of a massive shift to biofuels.

I encourage you to thoroughly investigate biofuelwatch.org. A great resource and addition to the larger discussion. Kudos to biofulewatch!
