Global Warming Up, Agreements Down
By: Rowan Wolf
The U.N. Climate Change Summit in Montreal looks like it is going nowhere fast. Perhaps they do not realize the critical pace at which global warming is preceding. Such as the retreat of Greenland's glaciers, or the dramatic slowing of the Atlantic current, which has slowed 30% over the last 12 years. Or maybe they missed that this is the costliest year for nasty weather. Further, that it is an almost unanimous consensus that the wacky weather is a direct consequence of global warming. Of course, the Bush administration's refusal to do anything - except undermine every attempt at internationally addressing this issues - doesn't help. When exactly are global leaders going to develop a sense of urgency?
The Inuit's are justifiably ticked off at such recalcitrance and have sued the U.S. for a climate policy that does nothing to avert the climatological disaster they are living with - which may ultimately destroy the Inuit. Go Inuit!
