Introduction

By: Shawna

Hi,
My name is Shawna Stonum. I am first the mother of five busy children between the ages of 12 and 2. Beyond that, I am many other things.
I obtained my Associates Degree at Portland Community College in June of 2004. Dr. Rowan Wolf was one of my favorite professors there. This fall, I plan to begin my Bachelor's Degree with a major in Social Justice at the University of Washington.

I have been active with the ACLU and True Majority, and support a variety of other activist organizations that focus on issues ranging from animal rights to Native American rights.
In looking at the way the world is changing around me and becoming more aware of the inequities that plague my life as well as the lives of others, I am wholeheartedly seeking a new way of life. Perhaps those who are influenced by the information that will be provided on this site will follow along. With a group effort, the human species can survive whatever may befall us. But first we must understand that human beings are not superior to and cannot control the natural world. It is time for us to accept our place in the world and to learn to live in a manner that sustains life.

Wow... Rowan is a Doctorate Collage Professor? I had no idea. I'm pretty humbled at this point, being a lowly software quality assurance engineer! I merely have a computer science degree!

Yep, that's me - PhD though I don't make a big deal about it, and I don't feel that valuable knowledge and skills are confined to those who have formal education.
